Biographical summary
Dr. Rihal is a board-certified cardiologist with subspecialty certification in interventional cardiology. Dr. Rihal graduated from the University of Manitoba, and completed all his postgraduate training at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He was a faculty member at McMaster University, and has been on staff at Mayo for 21 years. Dr. Rihal specializes in seeing patients with complex heart disease and focuses on providing minimally invasive therapies for patients with valve and structural heart disease. He has pioneered and developed many of these procedures in collaboration with the team at Mayo Clinic.
Dr Rihal's clinical practice focuses on the treatment of patients with valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease.

Dr. Rihal was director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory from 2003 to 2010, and Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine from 2010 to 2017. Dr. Rihal currently chairs the Rochester Personnel Committee, and has further training in business from the Carlson school of management and the University of Oxford. He is frequently invited nationally and internationally to speak at meetings and to teach procedure techniques.
