About AASPA
AASPA is the premier support organization for surgical PAs in all operative settings and specialties who seek to better their careers, their professions and the quality of patient care. AASPA was formed for surgical PAs, by surgical PAs.
What We Do
AASPA supports the surgical PA profession by addressing the needs of its membership, by marketing the profession, offering quality cost-effective CME, assisting with professional issues and providing a forum for networking and the exchange of ideas.
In addition to serving surgical PA professionals, AASPA represents PA students – both students and PA residents – in a wide variety of academic settings. AASPA provides surgical PA employers with an avenue to recruit top talent while offering affordable support opportunities to medical supply and pharmaceutical corporations.
The result: increased employment and compensation for PAs, improved patient care and safety, enhanced revenue streams, decreased physician workloads and increased visibility for the surgical PA profession.
History
AASPA was formed in 1972 as the American Association of Surgeon Assistants. We are proud to be the oldest specialty Physician Assistant organization, and we have a long history of supporting the needs of PAs, our physician/surgeon partners, and our patients.
Due to our vastly expanding role in the pre- and post-operative arena, supported by our broad based educational foundation as PAs, our name was changed to the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants (1996).
Become a Member
AASPA has a membership level for everyone: surgical PA, PA student, PA resident and even a special section for pre-PAs. The entire Board of Directors prides ourselves on our accessibility, and we are here to help all our members, supporters and physician partners.
